Accounting & Payroll Lead

We are looking for an experienced finance professional to support the leadership of accounting and payroll teams, oversee client engagements, and ensure accurate and efficient service delivery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Support the Director in managing and developing the accounting and payroll teams.
Supervise Managers, coordinate workloads, and monitor service quality and deadlines.
Oversee key client accounts and provide guidance on complex accounting and payroll matters.
Ensure the accurate and timely completion of monthly closing, reporting, consolidation, and payroll activities.
Monitor compliance with Bulgarian accounting, tax, and payroll legislation, internal policies, and quality standards.
Strengthen internal controls and improve consistency across client assignments.
Identify opportunities to streamline processes and introduce effective digital solutions.
Prepare internal reports and support the monitoring of team performance.
Coordinate with clients, auditors, and authorities to resolve complex issues.

REQUIREMENTS

At least 6–7 years of relevant experience in accounting and payroll.
Experience in an accounting firm is a significant advantage, and candidates with this background will be given priority.
Strong knowledge of Bulgarian accounting, tax, and payroll legislation.
Good working knowledge of IFRS and Bulgarian National Accounting Standards.
University degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
Proven experience supervising or mentoring teams.
Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage competing priorities across multiple clients and teams.
Clear communication and effective stakeholder management skills.
Attention to detail and a consistent record of meeting deadlines.
Fluent written and spoken English.
Strong Microsoft Office skills.
Experience with Ajur accounting software would be an advantage.
