Financial Controller

Exceed is looking for an analytical and well-organised Financial Controller on behalf of a partner company.

The role focuses on financial control, planning, and reporting, with particular emphasis on large-scale projects and initiatives supported by external grant funding from the European Commission.

The position involves reviewing financial terms in contracts, monitoring budgets, expenses, and cash flows, preparing management reports for the Board of Directors, and supporting strategic business development projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform financial control activities by monitoring expenses, budget execution, and variances against the financial plan.
  • Participate in preparing, updating, and monitoring financial plans and project budgets.
  • Review the financial terms of contracts and monitor compliance with contractual requirements and internal standards.
  • Verify the eligibility and supporting documentation of expenses under projects funded by the European Commission.
  • Support the preparation and financial reporting of projects with external grant funding.
  • Prepare and maintain cash flow forecasts, track incoming and outgoing payments, and assess funding requirements.
  • Prepare management reports and financial analyses for the Board of Directors.
  • Support strategic initiatives, including raising equity capital, securing debt financing, and mergers and acquisitions.
  • Communicate and coordinate with internal departments, external partners, consultants, and auditors.

Requirements

  • University degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
  • 2–3 years of professional experience in financial controlling, financial analysis, auditing, budgeting, or project financial reporting.
  • Strong Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and data processing and analysis.
  • Very good command of English, both written and spoken, including the ability to work with contracts and financial documentation.
  • Good understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, and cash flow management.
  • Strong analytical skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Considered an Advantage

  • Experience with EU-funded projects or other grant funding programmes.
  • Knowledge of project expenditure eligibility and financial reporting requirements.
  • Experience in financial modelling, investment analysis, or supporting mergers and acquisitions.
